First Post!

The purpose of this blog is to post movie reviews for films that I have seen. My interest in film has really increased over the last few years. A few factors include purchasing a 3-disk package from Netflix and also being a university student. I will usually watch around 3 movies per week.

My favorite genres are Drama, Western, Foreign, Crime/Gangster and Documentaries. In terms of Westerns my favorite actor is Clint Eastwood and I especially enjoy his work in the Dollars Trilogy by Sergio Leone. Spanish language foreign films are the easiest for me to understand because I am studying Spanish as a second language. I have also enjoyed watching a few movies from Eastern Europe.
My all time favorite genre is Crime/Gangster flicks. The Godfather trilogy stands out as the gold standard in this genre. I have also really enjoyed many British gangster films. In my mind Quentin Tarantino is one of the best directors in the Crime genre. His work in Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, and Reservoir is outstanding and helped redefine how people look at gangster films.
Documentaries are always a nice change of pace from the normal movies that I watch. I am very interested in global issues and I find documentaries informative of the world. My interest in immigration and poverty is also influential in the documentaries that I choose to watch.

As you may have already noticed this is my first blog. I hope that my passion for movies is shown through my reviews. I hope that you enjoy my reviews and if each person can find one new movie they like, my blog will be a success.
